Get more out of your Windows 10 experience with these tricks!
SILENT NOTIFICATIONS
Utilize Focus Assist in Windows 10 to mute those pesky notifications. Go to Settings, click on System, select Focus Assist. From here you can customize your notifications.
DARK MODE & LIGHT MODE
Personalize your color palette with Dark Mode and Light Mode. Head to Settings, click on Personalization, select Colors. Choose Dark Mode, Light Mode, or choose your own color palette. These changes affect the start menu, taskbar, action center, file explorer, setting menus, and more.
SHAKE IT OFF
If your screen is full of open windows, clear them by clicking on the top of your preferred window and “shaking” it. All of the other windows will be minimized. Shake it again to make the other windows pop back up.
ROTATE YOUR SCREEN
Press Ctrl + Alt + D and any arrow button to rotate your screen.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR TILES
Personalize your tiles in the start menu – right click on them and a menu will pop up with a variety of options. Options include: un-pin from the start menu, resize the windows, and more.
NEARBY SHARING
This works like Apple’s AirDrop. Click on the Share icon at the top of your photo toolbar or document, open the panel, and click on ‘Turn on Nearby Sharing’. Nearby recipients that are in range will pop-up.
CONTROL YOUR SMART HOME
If you have Next, SmartThings, Ecobee, Honeywell, and Hue, you can connect them to your Windows 10 computer. Head to the Cortana Notebook, click on Manage Skills, scroll down and select Connected Home. Once enabled, you can give your smart home instructions from your computer.
SNIP & SKETCH
Click Shift + Windows Key + S to take a full-screen or rectangular screen capture.
SECRET START MENU
Right click on the Windows icon in the bottom-left corner. This will provide you with a number of familiar and popular destinations – minus the tiles.
